It often takes fewer furnishings than you aspect to make a room look and feel appealing. Less really is more when it comes to decorating your home.
Placement of furniture and accessories is key in avoiding over furnishing your home. If a room feels and looks tight, first try rearranging the furniture to see if there is a better way to place the furniture. If after trying a few other arrangements your room still feels tight, remove some things all together until the room is not so cramped.
Overly furnished rooms can be stressful to be in and appear cluttered because of the extra furnishing. Your home should be easy to move around in and functional for your needs.
